Welcome to Jordan, historical, civilized, peaceful, and religious history land. Map Tours representative you will meet and greet you at the Sheik Hussein Border. Once across the border crossing procedures, drive to the Holy City of Madaba, known as the City of Mosaics and well known for its Byzantine Mosaics. Visit St. George Church and the 6th century mosaic floor depicting the earliest surviving map of the Holy Land. Then drive to Mt.Nebo, the mountain where the where Moses stood and saw the Promised Land and is believed to be buried. Visit the ancient church of Mt. Nebo with its magnificent 6th Century mosaics, overlooking the Dead Sea Jordan. Continue to Petra, the Wonder of the World, for your overnight stay.
Enjoy an early breakfast, and then meet your local guide and depart your hotel to start your visit to Petra. Known as “Sela Edom” or The Red Rock City, Petra was the capital of the Nabateans from the 3rd century B.C. to the 2nd century A.D. Petra’s most elegant monument, El Khazneh (The Treasury) comes dramatically into view as you emerge from the Siq. Beyond the Treasury an entire city is carved into the canyon walls. Other outstanding structures include the monastery and Urn Tomb. Wander through the field of tombs and obelisks to Al Madhbah (The Altar). From this point you can view the whole of the rock city. Return to your hotel in Petra for an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast drive north to Jerash, one of the cities of the Decapolis, an ancient city stepping back 2000 years back in time. Located in the fertile heights of Gilead, Jerashs one of the best preserved Greco – Roman cities left. Stroll the stately of ancient columns past the Theatre, Baths, and the hill top Temple and the Triumphal Arch. After your Jerash tour, you then will continue to the Northern Border crossing for your transfer.
